Implemented since December 2017, this initiative represents a long-term commitment to understanding the complex mangrove ecosystem of Bhitarkanika. In collaboration with the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), Chennai, we have established a rigorous monthly recording protocol.
A dedicated team of scientists from NCSCM monitors the BCA every month to record physical, chemical, and biological parameters and publish health report card in period of two years . This data is analyzed to delineate stress factors and develop science-based management plans.
The Health Report Card is a revolutionary tool for sustainable management in Bhitarkanika Area. By analyzing various parameters, it allows the management to take immediate precautionary actions for ecological improvement.
